Acoustic Wood Wall Panels Ireland | Acoustic Wall Panels | Royale Stones

Slat wall panels have become one of the most-specified interior finishes across residential and commercial projects in Ireland, and for good reason. They add instant warmth and depth to any wall, work across a wide range of interior schemes, and solve the noise problem in open-plan spaces without a separate acoustic treatment.

At Royale Stones, we stock a curated range of acoustic wall panels in slat and wrapped wood panels, available in three colourways, two constructions, and ready to ship nationwide.

Colours & Finishes

Natural Oak

Wood acoustic wall panels are the strongest-selling colourway and the easiest to specify. The warm, mid-toned grain reads as Scandi-influenced when paired with pale stone floors or polished concrete, and transitions well into more traditional schemes alongside natural stone or warm-toned porcelain.

Available as a standard slat panel, a wood-wrapped panel, and a flexible round slat for curved walls and bespoke installs.

Walnut

It brings a richer, darker tone: moodier without going dramatic. It fits contemporary kitchen-diners, home offices, and hospitality interiors where warmth and a premium finish matter.

The Walnut Acoustic Slat 2400x600mm pairs particularly well against dark porcelain floors or luxury vinyl tiles in smoked oak or grey tones.

For a fully wrapped, cleaner edge profile, the Walnut Wrapped Panel is the premium option.

Black Oak

Black acoustic wall panels are the statement choice. High contrast, high impact; ideal as a feature wall in living rooms, behind reception desks, or anchoring a bedroom headboard wall.

The Black Oak Slat Panel works well paired with light-toned natural stone floors for contrast, or matched with dark grey porcelain for a cohesive, all-dark scheme.

For curved or irregular surfaces, the Black Oak Flexible Round Slat gives contractors the flexibility to spec it into almost any geometry.

Formats & Construction

  • Standard Slat Panels (2400x600mm): The workhorse format. Full floor-to-ceiling acoustic wall panels with a slatted face and felt acoustic backing. Quick to install, clean to finish, and dimensioned to minimise waste on standard ceiling heights.

  • Wrapped Panels (2400x600x21mm): A deeper, more refined profile. The wrap construction gives a cleaner edge, and a slightly more premium feel on the wall; preferred by interior designers and fit-out contractors where finish detail is being scrutinised.

  • Flexible Round Slat Panels: Designed for curved walls, columns, reception pods, and any surface where a rigid panel won't conform. The round slat profile softens the look compared to the flat slat variants and opens up design possibilities that standard panels can't deliver.

What Schemes Do They Work With

These acoustic wall boards are genuinely versatile, but they perform best in schemes where texture and warmth are doing deliberate design work:

Open-plan Kitchen-diners

A single feature wall of Natural Oak or Walnut behind a kitchen island or dining area breaks up the flatness of a tiled or painted space without competing with the floor finish. Pair acoustic panels for walls with porcelain or stone floor tiles in a complementary neutral.

Home Offices and Studies

The acoustic backing reduces sound reflection without needing a separate soundproof panelling. Black Oak reads well against dark cabinetry and monitor setups; Natural Oak acoustic wooden wall panels keep the space from feeling too stark.

Living Rooms and Hallways

As a feature wall behind a sofa, fireplace breast cladding, or hallway statement, the slat panels replace painted plasterboard with something that has genuine material presence.

Commercial and Hospitality

Restaurants, hotels, coworking spaces, and retail fit-outs increasingly specify acoustic slat panels as a cost-effective way to hit both acoustic performance targets and interior design briefs in a single product.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you screw or glue acoustic wall panels?

Both methods work, and most contractors use a combination of the two. Construction adhesive gives a strong, clean bond on plasterboard, plaster, and most dry-lined walls. Panel pins or fine finishing nails through the slat faces add mechanical fixing security, particularly on heavier panels or where the wall surface isn't perfectly flat. Screws are less common for slat panels because the face profile makes concealment difficult; if you're fixing into masonry or a stud frame, adhesive plus a brad nailer through the felt backing is the neater solution. Always check the wall substrate is dry, sound, and free of dust or paint flaking before fixing.

Does panelling sit on top of skirting?

No, and getting this sequencing wrong is one of the most common fit mistakes. The panels should be installed first, then skirting boards fitted up against the face of the panel. If you're retrofitting panels into a room that already has skirting in place, the skirting needs to come off before installation. Trying to notch or cut panels around existing skirting creates weak points, uneven reveals, and a finish that reads as an afterthought. Remove the skirting, install panels to your finished floor height, then refit skirting tight to the panel face. The result is clean, deliberate, and far easier to seal.

What is the lifespan of acoustic panels?

Properly installed acoustic slat wood panels will last the lifetime of the interior. There's no functional reason to replace them unless the space is being fully stripped and redesigned. The timber veneers and MDF cores used in our panels are dimensionally stable in normal interior conditions and won't warp, delaminate, or degrade under typical residential or commercial use. The felt acoustic backing is bonded and enclosed once installed, so it's not subject to wear. As with any timber product, prolonged exposure to direct moisture or significant humidity swings will cause problems. These are interior dry-fix products and should be specified and installed accordingly.

Do acoustic panels get dirty?

The slatted face does collect dust in the grooves between slats over time, particularly in high-traffic or high-footfall commercial environments. In a typical residential room, this is minimal and easily managed with a soft brush attachment on a vacuum or a dry microfibre cloth run along the slat faces every few months. Spot marks and fingerprints on the veneer surface can generally be wiped with a lightly damp cloth. Avoid saturating the timber or using solvent-based cleaners. Black Oak panels show dust less than Natural Oak or Walnut in practice, which is worth flagging to clients who are specifying panels in kitchens or open-plan dining areas where grease and airborne particles are a factor.
