A Cohesive Indoor-Outdoor Look With Inside-Out Porcelain Tiles!

Royale Stones provide inside-out matching tiles for Irish homeowners and commercial spaces in the same design but multiple thicknesses : from 9mm up to 20mm.

20mm outdoor paving is the standard choice for driveways, high traffic patios, commercial zones and areas that are exposed to standing water; with R10-R11 anti-slip rating.

Thinner 9mm to 12mm porcelain tile options are primarily an indoor format however can be used as seamless indoor‑outdoor tiles that suit sheltered, low-traffic outdoor spots such as covered patio or side passage.

Sizes, Finish and Colours

The matching range spans several formats, including 300x300mm, 800x800mm, 900x600mm, 905x605mm, 1000x1000mm, and 1200x600mm, so the same design can be laid at different scales indoors and outdoors as the space requires.

Inside-out tile colours run through:

  • Whites & Off White

  • Light Greys

  • Dark Greys & Black

  • Ivory, Creams & Beiges

  • Blues, Green & Emerald

These tones are available in our outdoor paving tiles collection with a predominantly matt finish as well for contemporary Irish homes.

Suitability for Indoor & Outdoor Living Areas

The thinner indoor and outdoor tile formats (9mm–12mm) are primarily intended for indoor use but can suit sheltered, low-traffic outdoor spots such as a covered porch. They're not recommended for areas exposed to standing water or hard frost.

Slip Resistance:

For outdoor areas where wet weather is a regular consideration, our outdoor porcelain tiles are available in R10 and R11 slip-resistance ratings, helping provide a more secure surface underfoot in wet conditions. R11 is generally the better choice for exposed patios or areas that regularly get wet, while R10 can be suitable for covered or lower-risk outdoor spaces.

Underfloor Heating:

A number of our indoor floor tiles are also compatible with underfloor heating, although this is worth checking on the individual product if it's part of your build. For driveways, exposed patios and high-traffic areas, the 20mm format is the standard choice, offering the additional strength needed for heavier outdoor use.

FAQs

Do inside-out tiles come the same indoors and outdoors?

No, the tile design matches, but the thickness changes by location: 9mm–12mm indoors, 20mm outdoors. The two formats aren't interchangeable; the outdoor 20mm slab is the exterior-rated format for driveways and exposed patios. The thinner indoor formats can suit sheltered, low-traffic spots like a covered porch.

What is inside-out matching porcelain?

Inside-out matching porcelain is one tile design supplied across multiple thicknesses, from 9mm indoor to 20mm outdoor, so a floor pattern can continue unbroken from a room into a garden or patio. It's a design-matching system, not a single dual-rated slab. Rectified edges on many pieces in this range keep grout lines consistent where the two formats meet at a threshold.

Does porcelain tile need sealing outdoors?

No; porcelain is non-porous and doesn't require sealing at installation or resealing over time. This is a direct contrast to natural stone, which is porous and typically needs periodic sealing to resist staining and frost damage. It's one of the main reasons porcelain suits Ireland's consistently damp climate with lower long-term maintenance.

What's the difference between R10 and R11 tile ratings?

R11 holds a steeper angle before slipping than R10 under the DIN 51130 wet-slip test, making it the higher-grip rating of the two. R10 suits covered or lower-exposure outdoor areas. R11 is the safer specification for pool surrounds or patios in constant rain contact.

Is porcelain tile compatible with underfloor heating?

Some indoor formats in this range are compatible with underfloor heating, though this varies by specific product. Porcelain conducts heat efficiently, which is why it's commonly specified over underfloor systems. Always confirm compatibility on the individual product page before ordering.
